Wyoming man believed to have drowned in Salmon River

A Wyoming man is believed to have drowned after a boating accident on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, Lemhi County Sheriff's Office officials say.

A 911 caller informed of a possible drowning near the Cutthroat Cove area at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Forty-six-year-old Mike Olson of Lyman, Wyoming, and formerly of Challis, who was missing, has been presumed dead.

A rescue helicopter from Two Bear Air joined the search, but could not spot Olson.

The search by air and water is continuing in a ten-mile stretch of the Middle Fork, sheriff's office said.
