Missing Montana man's body recovered from Grangeville river

The Idaho County Sheriff's Office on Friday recovered the body of a man out of Grangeville.

The deputies responded to a call of a body in the river at the dike in Stites before 4:30pm and the body of 64-year-old Burke Despain of Kalispell, Montana was discovered by the deputies after few hours.

Despain had been reported missing on April 9, 2016 in the area of Highway 14, milepost 21.

Despain was camping with his son and when his son awoke in the morning, his father was not there.

The area roads, river and river banks were searched by Idaho County deputies and finally a search dog indicated that Despain had gone to the river bank.
