Elmore County Sheriff Rick Layher said the hiker has not been found. "We pretty much exhausted our air support that was flying for us, and the guys pretty much walked the trails that they could," he said Monday morning.

Deputies from multiple counties, along with Idaho Mountain search and Rescue, the Idaho National Guard and other groups searched for the man after he did not return from a trip into the Sawtooth Wilderness.

The man began hiking at the Queens River trailhead near Atlanta and was scheduled to wrap up his trip June 16. The authorities have not revealed the identity of the missing man. It is learned that he used a personal satellite beacon June 15 to let his family about his status.

The sheriff said that searchers will now not look in the area on a daily basis, but they will continue to search for him.
