LeBron James finally brings a title to Cleveland

LeBron James did well to keep the Cavs alive with a late chase-down block and Kyrie Irving helped them seize the advantage with 3-pointer with 53 seconds left, to vanquish the championship curse of Cleveland once and for all.

James, with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and three blocked shots in playing 47 of 48 minutes was the leader of the pack, while Irving followed him with 26 points and six assists.

And the Cavs, finally, lifted their first NBA title. It took a native son, born and bred 30 miles down the road in Ohio, to bring home the coveted title.

If back-to-back titles in Miami were the breakthrough moment for James as one of the game's all-time greats, the NBA title for Cleveland gives him the living-legend status.

Afterwards, LeBron James said he returned home to bring Cleveland a championship. On Sunday, he broke a 52-year major title drought with an MVP performance in an improbable Game 7 win over the Golden State Warriors.

It is to be noted that LeBron's NBA Finals record still stands at a lopsided 3-4 but it would not be wrong to say that third ring carries so much weight.

The NBA title has been won by hundreds of players in the past too but James and the Cavs have done it in a completely new style this year.

James completely dominated the series, taking the finals to the brink with back-to-back 41-point games in to bring Cleveland back from a 3-1 deficit. The first 32 teams to fall down 3-1 in the Finals ended up losers but the Cavs proved different.
