At the ceremony, former pilots spoke about their own experiences flying Apache helicopters and talked about the role of the helicopters in Idaho military aviation history.

Hundreds of former and active National Guard soldiers were present for the final goodbye to the iconic helicopters that have served Idaho for more than 20 years.

The Idaho Apache helicopters have been used on missions at home in Idaho and as far away as Bosnia and Afghanistan.

The Apache helicopters will now be replaced by Black Hawk helicopters in the coming months adding to about two dozen Black Hawks Idaho currently has.
